Booking a hog roast caterer for the first time — or just want to double-check the practical details before your big day? Here’s a rundown of the questions we hear most often from couples, event planners and businesses getting ready to book us at Country Hog Roast.
Will I be charged extra for travel or setup?
No hidden extras here. Your quote is worked out up front and covers travel, setup, staff and pack-down as standard, so the price you’re given is the price you pay.
How much room do you need at the venue?
Space requirements vary slightly by menu:
- Bronze Menu – 3m x 4.5m
- Silver Menu – 3m x 4.5m
- Gold Menu – 3m x 4.5m
- Wedding Menu – 3m x 4.5m, plus a 3m x 6m area
How long before guests arrive do you need to set up?
We like to allow ourselves 2–3 hours on site beforehand to get the cooking and serving areas ready and finish off preparation.
Does your vehicle need to reach the cooking area directly?
It’s not a strict requirement — if there’s parking on site or close by for unloading, we can work with that.
Is there a limit on group size?
Not really. Our setup scales from an intimate meal for two through to major events catering for well over 2,000 guests.
Can we try the food before we commit to booking?
If you’re booking for a larger wedding or corporate event, we can often organise a tasting ahead of time — though this depends on when in the year you’re asking, so it’s worth raising when you get your quote.
What time should we expect you on the day?
That depends on your menu and how the event’s structured. A full hog roast usually means we’re on site well ahead of serving time to get everything prepped and cooking properly — we’ll agree exact timings with you as part of the planning.
How long do you attend at the event for?
Typically we’re on site for 4–5 hours in total, broken down roughly as:
- Setup – 2–3 hours before service starts
- Serving – 2–4 hours, depending on the menu
- Pack-down – around 1 hour
When should I book to secure my date?
Weekends in peak summer and popular wedding dates fill up well ahead of time, sometimes months in advance — so if you’ve got a date in mind, don’t leave it too late to ask.
Do you do weddings?
Definitely — it’s a big part of what we do, from wedding breakfasts through to evening buffets and relaxed outdoor receptions.
What about corporate events?
Yes — we’re regularly booked for office parties, staff rewards days, launches, trade events and larger corporate functions.
